It's so true that this device has become an inseparable part of our day to day life, and we are addicted to it. We start feeling restless if we do not look at our phone after a few minutes. We react faster to a phone beep or a message than to a call from family member in a different room. We all need to break out of this head-down syndrome. We all need to connect and communicate in real world. We need to put this technology to good use and not become its slave.
So what should we do? It's simple. The solution is called "digital break". This means, when you return home from work, you simply turn off or mute(静音)all your digital devices for a few hours every day, or at least once in a while. What do you do then? You can share time with your family, chatting with your wife or husband, playing games with your kids, doing things with other family members, etc. in real life. You will soon realize the world outside the smartphone is much more enjoyable.
1.Get your car checked regularly to make sure everything works properly. Whenever possible, walk, cycle, carpool, or use public transportation. Buy fuel-efficient vehicles. Drive at 60 mph or less to improve gas mileage.
2.Burn less natural gas to cook or heat your home. Instead, use a solar cooker or heater and wear extra layers.
3. Become a vegetarian or a vegan. Raising any sort of livestock requires more land and emits more carbon dioxide than simply growing crops directly for human food.
4. Use less electricity. Coal power plants produce most of the world’s electricity, and they also produce more carbon dioxide than any other source. Coal plants also release many other pollutants. Unplug televisions, cell phone chargers, and other appliances while not in use. Most devices continue to use small amounts of power even when they’re turned off. Avoid using air conditioning, and don’t leave the fridge open any longer than necessary. Only run the clothes washer or dish washer when full. Rather than using a dryer, hang clothes on a line to dry in the sun.
